Visionary Leadership Conference (VLC) 2025 – Day 2 Highlights
Day 2 of the Visionary Leadership Conference (VLC) 2025 opened with a renewed surge of energy as leaders from across industries tuned in virtually by 9:00 AM WAT. What followed was a day of deep learning, courageous introspection, and practical insight on what it truly means to lead with people at the heart of purpose and performance.
DDK on Human-Centred Leadership Model
Debola Deji-Kurunmi set the tone for the day with a profound session on the Human-Centred Leadership Model, exploring the character and courage required to build systems where people thrive. She reminded us that leadership begins when blame ends, and that the most human-centred leaders are those who transform their weaknesses rather than excuse them.
Dr. Niyi Borire on The Neuroscience of Safety, Trust, and Emotional Contagion
Next, Dr. Niyi Borire delivered a thought-provoking seminar exploring the science behind human behaviour, emotional safety, and relational influence.
He explained how the brain constantly scans for threats and rewards, which means leaders must intentionally create environments where people feel safe, valued, and seen.
Temi Dalley on Balancing Purpose, People, and Performance
Temi Dalley brought a powerful close to the expert sessions with a high-impact framework on building workplaces where people thrive and performance remains strong.
She reframed people-first culture as not “soft management,” but “smart economics,” noting that talent is an organization’s greatest advantage and also its greatest vulnerability.
Communities of Practice (COPs):
The afternoon was dedicated to one of VLC’s most anticipated segments—Communities of Practice (COPs). These intimate breakout sessions created space for industry peers to exchange ideas, discuss real-world challenges, and learn from some of Africa’s most respected practitioners.
The COPs were led by:
- Entrepreneurial Leadership: Morenike Molehin, Tricia Biz, Ella George-Uduku
- Corporate Leaders and Industrial Talents: Emmanuel Tarfa
- Culture Shapers and Influencers: Taiwo Egunjobi
- Spiritual Leaders and Voices: Dami Oguntunde
- Tech Innovators and Disruptors: Douglas Kendyson
- Policy and Impact Leaders: Omowunmi Akingbohungbe, Oluwatobiloba Moody, Oluwatoyin Banjo
- Academic Leaders and Researchers: Dr. Olumide Adesina
These conversations enabled leaders to share best practices and build networks that will shape their work for years to come. The ripple effects of these conversations will be felt across industries, teams, and communities, and the movement toward human-centred leadership continues.
