Your Mid-Year Scorecard: What happens at Half Time

Football isn’t as boring as some of us think (especially if you’ve never really paid attention). While it may look like a group of men or women chasing a ball around a field, for many people, football is a language of passion, joy, strategy, and deep emotions. It brings people together, sparks loud debates, and builds strong connections across cities and nations.

But beyond these, there are many lessons to learn from football that can apply to our own life’s journey. At the start of a 90-minute match, the excitement is high. Players rush forward with energy, strategies are fresh, and the goal is clear. But as the game continues, energy levels can drop, especially if the team is struggling or when there is a draw. That’s when you hear things like, “They’ll do better in the second half,” or “There’s still hope, the second half is coming.”

It’s Half-Time!

Just like in football, half-time is a pivotal moment – a sacred pause that can define the outcome of the game. And now that we’ve reached the midpoint of the year, the same is true for your life. If you want to finish strong, you must treat this moment with intention and clarity.

Here are three life lessons from the game:

1. Half-Time Is for Re-Strategising

By now, you’ve seen what’s working and what’s not.
Football teams use half-time to gather feedback, study the field, and shift their strategy. You must do the same. Reflect on your goals, assess your progress, and be honest about what needs to shift.
This is not the time for self-criticism. It’s a time for wisdom, alignment, and smarter moves for the second half.

2. Half-Time Is for Renewing Identity

Players sometimes change jerseys during half-time, not because they’re leaving the game, but because they need to shake off the weight of the first half.
Maybe you need the same. Maybe it’s time to release the pressure, perfectionism, disappointment, or discouragement you’ve been carrying.
You haven’t missed your moment; you just need a mindset reset to move forward with renewed strength.

3. Half-Time Involves a Coach

No serious team goes into half-time without hearing from their coach. Why? Because the coach brings perspective, refocuses the team, and reignites belief.
In life, you need that too.
You need someone to help you see clearly, adjust wisely, and remind you of what’s still possible.

If you’re ready to finish this year with purpose, it’s time for you to get a coach. The IMMERSE Coaching Council exists to walk with you, help you regain clarity, and support your journey of execution. You don’t have to go through the second half alone.

This is your half-time moment.
Pause. Reset. Strategise.
And then, go back into the field with fresh fire.

You’re not too late…You’re just getting started!
