Braxton Hicks Contractions Don’t Birth Full Term Babies

In case someone was wondering what Braxton Hicks contractions are…They are the tightening and releasing of the uterine muscles that mimic the real birthing contractions. But they are just meant to prepare the body for labor. However, they do not lead to labor and can’t deliver a baby.

Visions are like seeds. They are planted, have an incubation period and a birthing date. Carrying a vision can be likened to being pregnant with a physical baby. Like a physical pregnancy, you will experience those preparatory contractions called Braxton Hicks Contractions. But the thing is, you don’t birth a baby with this kind of contraction.

Moses jumped into the delivery room and got into trouble because he thought what he felt at age 40 were the real birth pangs. With the arm of flesh, he swung into action to prematurely birth the vision as deliverer. Alas! It ended in murder and he fled for his life.

It was not until 40 years later that the real birth pangs hit. Contractions took a hold of him when he encountered God at the burning bush. That was the actual due date. It was a time where he could not take glory for the mission before him.

Joseph had received a clear vision of the life he was born to live. The seeds had been implanted in him, but there was a due date to birth it and physically walk in that calling. Braxton Hicks contractions hit him when he was in Potiphar’s house.

He was put in charge of the household, everything he did prospered, Potiphar’s household prospered and madam too favored him till she began to want this young Hebrew man. That looked like a pass to that life he had seen in his dream. Wasn’t this what the vision had said? Others bowing to him? Potiphar had bowed to him, he had put him in charge of his household and now his wife was bowing to him , right? But Joseph knew better. He knew not to start pushing with a Braxton Hicks contraction. His due date didn’t come until he had spent some time in jail for a crime he was innocent of.

Not every contraction means it’s time to push. Just like Braxton Hicks contractions prepare the body for the real deal, so do the Braxton Hicks contractions of life.

Examples of life’s Braxton Hicks contractions:

1. Your promotion at work…It doesn’t mean it’s time to resign and go start your own company. God might be preparing you for so much more and require you to serve some more.

2. Increased responsibility in your place of worship, with everyone telling you how inspiring you are. It doesn’t mean it is time to go start up your own Church. Many ran off like that and gave birth to premature visions that never survived.

3. That uncle you live with whose wife is bent on frustrating your every waking moment. It doesn’t mean it’s time to move out and get a place of your own. It is the preparatory season to help you handle something bigger that will test the strength of your character in the future.

Stay in your place of fellowship with the Spirit and you will remain in sync with your vision’s due date.

If we will tarry a bit and lean in to the owner of the vision; if we will live unhurried by the achievements of others , we, like Moses and Joseph will carry the seed of that vision till the birth pangs kick in with the midwife right beside us.

Wait for the real thing. When it hits, bearing down and pushing will come naturally. A full term vision will thrive and be all it was born to be.
